Tour of Spain winner Chris Horner has signed for Lampre, the Italian team confirmed on Thursday.
The 42-year-old American has been without a team since leaving RadioShack last year. Lampre will be the Japanese-born rider's 12th team.
Horner, who turned professional in 1995, is expected to compete in two big races this season - the Giro d'Italia and the Vuelta where he will defend his title.
Lampre have been rebuilding their team for next season, also signing Rui Costa, a few weeks before the Portuguese rider became world champion.
The Italian outfit also have in their ranks Italian Diego Ulissi - a stage winner in Adelaide's Tour Down Under - his compatriot Damiano Cunego and Polish climbing specialist Przemyslaw Niemiec, sixth in last year's Giro.
Horner will line up for his new team in the Mallorca Challenge from February 9-12 in Spain.
