WA Budget winners and losers

Householders have benefited from Western Australia's budget but things aren't so good for government workers and seniors.

WA BUDGET WINNERS AND LOSERS

WINNERS

* Households - forking out almost $200 a year more on cost of living expenses but better than last year

* Education - budget up $294m (6.5 per cent) on last year, about $600 per student

* Health - budget up $243m (4.6 per cent) on last year

* Police - budget up $53m (4.1 per cent) on last year

* Social housing - $560m to build 1000 new homes, reduce waiting list

* Disability services - budget up $98m (11.3 per cent)

* Tourism - additional support, $20m for events, $11m for marketing

LOSERS

* Government workers - lower wages for new employees, job freezes and cuts, wages cap

* Seniors - living assistance payments means tested, cap on council rate rebates, higher eligibility age for seniors cards

* Land owners - new, flatter land tax scale introduced from July 1, 2015

* First home buyers - $3000 grant for established homes cancelled

* Wine drinkers - $11 million cellar door subsidy cancelled
