Lives and homes could be in danger from two out-of-control bushfires north of Perth.

A watch and act alert has been issued for residents near the northern part of the Bindoon Training Area, Bindoon-Dewars Pool Road and Old Plains Road in the Shire of Toodyay and the Shire of Victoria Plains.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said there was a possible threat to lives and homes as a fire approached the area and conditions changed.

People should leave or get ready to defend their property.

The fire front is five kilometres long and spot fires are starting up to 700 metres ahead of it.

A watch and act alert has also been issued for people near the Midlands Road and Dalaroo West Road about 10km north of Moora.

The fire was reported on Monday afternoon and is moving in a north-northeasterly direction at 5km/h.

DFES said the fire was started by lightning.

A bushfire near the Davis forest block, 15km southeast of Dardanup, has been downgraded to an advice alert and is no longer a threat to lives or homes.
