WA child pornographer nabbed after FBI tip

A man who filmed two naked girls in his home has been jailed in Western Australia for at least 10 months.

A man who filmed two girls undressing in his home only to be later caught after an FBI investigation has been jailed in Perth for 20 months.

Anthony Saraceno, 47, pleaded guilty in the West Australia District Court this week to two counts of indecently recording two girls between 2009 and 2010.

The court heard that in 2011, the FBI conducted an operation into child pornography file sharing, which led to Australian police investigating Saraceno.

In 2012, Australian Federal Police executed a search warrant at his Melbourne home and found videos of girls undressing and showering, some of which he had filmed while living with a woman and her daughter in WA.

The court heard he hid a camera in the home to film the children, aged 11 and 12, on separate occasions.

Judge Patrick O'Neal said there was a degree of premeditation and planning in Saraceno's offending, and he had betrayed the victims' trust.

"You presented an outward impression of respectability and the parents of these girls trusted you and your partner with their daughter's care for overnight sleepovers," he said.

"You breached the trust of your partner, or ex-partner, who never would have allowed access in this way had she known of your sexual interest in girls of this age."

In a victim impact statement, one of the girls said she felt insecure and did not trust others.

She also referred to the loss of her best friend - the daughter of Saraceno's ex-partner - caused by the girl's withdrawal from her relationship with the victim due to a sense of guilt and embarrassment.

Saraceno must serve at least 10 months behind bars before being eligible for parole.
