A West Australian couple who were missing for more than a week have been found by a friend after police called off their search.

Jeremy Sim, 41, and Marama Sim, 38, were found 200km from Esperance about 11pm on Thursday.

It has been reported their car radiator cracked, stranding them in remote bushland, and after they heard radio reports the search for them had been called off, they drove their car slowly at night to prevent it from overheating.

The couple left their Esperance home for a camping trip last Tuesday morning and were last seen that afternoon at Lake King Tavern Motel.

Signals from a phone used by the couple on Sunday narrowed the search area to the west of Esperance, but aerial and ground searches failed to find them.

Police called off their search on Wednesday to the disappointment of their three daughters, extended family and friends.

"It is horrible to find out they have stopped searching, please just a few more days," one of their daughters wrote on Facebook.

The couple were in good health and did not need medical treatment, police said in a statement.
