A fire sparked by machinery south of Perth has been extinguished.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services say the fire at Araluen Estate in Armadale burnt five hectares on Thursday.

Machinery accidentally sparked the blaze between Old Albany Lane and Heritage Drive about 1.30pm (WST) prompting warnings for nearby residents.

A second fire, north of Perth on Perry Road at Wanneroo was earlier downgraded to an advice message.

The fire had been threatening ember attacks on nearby properties between Cypress Road and Anderson Road at Pinjar.

Fire crews brought the Pinjar blaze under control about 8pm (WST).

Smoke warnings are still in place for both areas.
