Firefighters are battling 10-metre high flames as two bushfires tear through suburbs in Perth's south.

An emergency warning remains in place for parts of Wellard and Baldivis, while a watch and act alert has been issued for the western part of Wellard, Leda, Parmelia and Bertram.

One fire is burning on the northern side of Millar Road towards Johnson Road, while a second fire is raging on the western side of Baldivis Road towards Millar Road.

The bushfires are out of control and unpredictable, and moving fast in a north easterly direction.

Spot fires are starting up to 100 metres ahead of the fires.

The Department of Fire and Emergency Services said 40 firefighters were tackling the blazes.

Separately, in the city's northern fringes, an emergency warning has been downgraded to a watch and act for people in the western part of Pinjar.

The fire there has slowed and reduced in intensity, and is burning in forest towards pine plantation in eastern Yanchep.

Firefighters were expecting the wind to shift from southerly to easterly late on Tuesday night, potentially pushing the fire west towards Wanneroo Road.

More than 600 hectares has been burnt in the area since the fire was sparked on Monday afternoon.

DFES said 120 firefighters were on the scene.

Firefighters have also tackled blazes in the Pilbara, South West and Great Southern regions on Tuesday, but the alert level for these fires is an advice.
