WA greyhound trainer admits using blood

WA greyhound trainer Anthony Glenny has admitted using a rag soaked with chicken blood to train dogs at his Bakers Hill facility.

A greyhound trainer has admitted using chicken blood to train dogs at his property east of Perth.

Anthony Glenny faced an inquiry on Monday after he refused to answer questions by Racing and Wagering Western Australia stewards following an inspection of his Bakers Hill facility on May 3.

He was stood down as a WA Greyhound Racing Association board member and had his licences suspended pending the outcome of the stewards inquiry, where he pleaded guilty to using a lure that was not entirely free of animal tissue.

The inquiry heard he use a rag soaked with chicken blood as part of greyhound training.

He pleaded guilty to two other charges, that he refused to disclose the identity of a person or people who asked him to undertake live baiting at his premises, and that he used improper words during a phone conversation with the chief steward.

A spokesman for Racing and Gaming minister Colin Holt said no comment would be made until after Racing and Wagering WA handed down its decision regarding penalties.
