WA man charged over home invasion assault

A 27-year-old WA man, arrested after an alleged attempt to flee the country, has been charged over a burglary and indecent assault.

A 27-year-old man has been charged over a burglary and the indecent assault of a 19-year-old woman during a home invasion south of Perth.

Police said the victim was woken about 2am (WST) on February 13 by a man sitting on her bed at her Dudley Park home.

He indecently assaulted her and burgled the home before fleeing, police alleged.

Information was gathered by Crime Stoppers after a composite image and details about the offender were released last week.

The man was arrested in Rockingham, in Perth's southern suburbs, after an alleged attempt to leave the country.

He has been charged with aggravated burglary and indecent assault, and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court later on Monday.
