WA man charged with assaulting infant son

An eight-month-old boy is being treated for head injuries at a Perth hospital after his father allegedly assaulted him.

A 39-year-old man has been charged over the assault of his infant son, who is being treated for head injuries at a Perth hospital.

Police allege the man assaulted the eight-month-old on Monday at a house in the Wheatbelt town of Kellerberrin.

The boy's mother took him to a local hospital on the same day, and he was later flown to Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth.

The father has been charged with aggravated grievous bodily harm and is due to appear in Merredin Magistrates Court on August 19.
