WA MP's daughter avoids jail for drugs

WA MP Mick Murray has supported his daughter Bree in court as she was handed suspended sentence for drug dealing.

The daughter of West Australian Labor politician Mick Murray has avoided jail for dealing ecstasy.

Bree Murray, 35, and her family cried as she was given a 12 month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, in the Perth District Court on Tuesday.

Ms Murray was found with three clip seal bags containing 28 MDMA tablets, eight empty bags and a set of scales when she was pulled over by police in Lake Clifton in June.

Judge Simon Stone said drug dealing was considered a serious offence in WA and that Ms Murray was a low level dealer.
