WA Rebels bikie alleges police assault

A member of WA's Rebels bikie gang is lodging a complaint against a WA police officer, alleging he was struck on the head with a sub-machine gun.

A Rebel bikie who claims he was the victim of police brutality in a raid that resulted in no charges is lodging a complaint against West Australian police.

High-profile criminal lawyer Terry Dobson said his client Rodney Texeira, 30, has been allowed to break the club's code of silence to make the complaint because the December incident was captured on a mobile phone.

In the footage, Mr Texeira shouts "I'm not f***ing resisting" as police repeatedly tell him to stop resisting.

Mr Dobson said Mr Texeira was struck three times in the head with the barrel of a sub-machine gun while he lay handcuffed and face down on the ground.

He said officers then hog-tied his client with cable ties and tasered him in the back.

He also alleged that officers wrapped a pillow case around Mr Texeira's mouth to muffle his screams. Mr Dobson said while Mr Texeira was waiting for an ambulance, an officer allegedly told him, "this is what you get when you f***ers have a go at our boys."

The lawyer said the raid, which resulted in no charges against Mr Texeira, was "payback" for a scuffle between Rebel bikies and Gang Crime Squad officers in Carlisle several days earlier and there had been raids against other members.

"It's sadistic and brutal. It's also very cowardly," Mr Dobson told reporters on Wednesday.

"Put aside whether he's a Rebel or not - he's equal in the eyes of the law - to do that to anyone while they're handcuffed and face down is just gutless."

Mr Dobson said Mr Texeira would lodge his complaint with the Corruption and Crime Commission on Thursday, adding the officers who assaulted him should be "locked up".

Wa Police declined to comment on the matter.
