WA storms pack 100km/h wind gusts

Thunderstorms that brought wind gusts of more than 100km/h to Perth and the South West are expected to clear mid-morning.

Severe thunderstorms packing winds of more than 100 kilometres per hour have damaged dozens of homes in Perth, ripping part of the roof off a western suburbs apartment complex.

Gusts of 102km/h hit Rottnest Island off the metropolitan coast early on Thursday.

The South West region was also hit by the wild weather, with wind gusts of 104km/h reported at Busselton Jetty.

The thunderstorms are expected to clear by mid-morning.
