WA's truffle harvest could reach a record eight tonnes this year with local producers reporting record production.

A bumper truffle harvest in Western Australia is expected to reap $10 million in export earnings.

Truffle Producers WA chairman Mark Horwood said producers in WA's southern forests were reporting a record eight tonne production after the maturation of trees and improved farming practices.

Truffles can fetch up to $3000 per kilogram internationally, while farmgate prices vary between $1000 and $1500 per kilogram, depending on the size and quality.
