WADA rules for Mayweather-Pacquiao bout

Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao will adhere to World Anti-Doping Agency rules for their long-awaited fight in May in Las Vegas.

Champion boxers Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao have agreed to follow World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules for their fight in May.

This issue had been a major sticking point that led to the end of negotiations in 2010, when the boxers first tried to put together a fight.

As part of the agreement, the US Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) can take blood and urine samples from both fighters at any point leading up to the bout on May 2 in Las Vegas.

They will also be tested after the fight.

Samples will be sent to labs that can test for human growth hormone, EPO and anything else on WADA's prohibited list.

USADA CEO Travis Tygart said by making the agreement, the boxers were sending "a strong statement of the importance of clean and safe competition".
