WADA to send inspection team to Jamaica

World Anti-Doping Agency officials are expected to land in Jamaica next week to start an audit of the nation's anti-doping commission.

A team from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is scheduled to visit Jamaica next week to begin a special audit of the sprinting powerhouse's anti-doping commission.

Herb Elliott, the chairman of the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, or JADCO, says the agency has "nothing to hide."

Elliott says three WADA officials will be in Jamaica on Monday and Tuesday to inspect the island's testing regime in the wake of eight Jamaican athletes testing positive for a banned substance in 2013.

Despite an invitation from Jamaica's prime minister and WADA's indication that it was available to visit, JADCO had previously told the world agency that no inspection could be accommodated until early 2014.

This week, WADA president John Fahey told Britain's Daily Telegraph that JADCO's response was unacceptable.
