A waitress has taken on a customer who grabbed her bottom in a busy US restaurant, slamming him to the ground and shaming him in front of customers.

Emelia Holden was working at Vinnie Van Go-Go’s in Georgia on June 30 when a man groped her as he walked by.

Surveillance footage captured the 21-year-old woman grabbing the man by the collar and hurling him to the floor.

“I just did what I felt was best. I took the guy down and had my co-workers call the police,” Ms Holden told the Daily Mail yesterday. “He sat in jail until Monday, so in my opinion, he got what he deserved.”

The offender, 31-year-old Ryan Cherwinski, was taken into custody and charged with sexual battery, police said.

The video was posted to Reddit days later, under the heading: "My cousin takes this pervert down for grabbing her ass. He is later arrested in front of his wife and 2 kids when the cops arrived."

Social media users have applauded Ms Holden, with one saying: "Dude got what he deserved".
