Wales rests top players for Tonga match

Wales coach Warren Gatland has selected a virtually second-string pack to face Tonga, as he rests his big names ahead of a Test against Australia.

Wales has made 11 changes to the side that thrashed Argentina 40-6 at the weekend for Friday's autumn test against Tonga in Cardiff.

Warren Gatland, taking charge of his 100th international match, has selected a virtually second-string pack that features No.8 Ryan Jones, who returns to captain the team for a record-extending 33rd time.

Fullback Leigh Halfpenny and winger George North are the only first-choice players included as Gatland rests the majority of his big names ahead of a test against Australia on November 30.

Gatland says "it's a great opportunity for these guys to show us exactly how they cope with the international game".

After opening the autumn series with a 24-15 loss to South Africa, Wales beat Argentina for a first win in November since 2009.
