Carlton half-back Andrew Walker has committed to the Blues, signing a new three-year deal on Tuesday to tie him to the club until the end of 2017.
Walker said he was "pretty pumped" by the new contract, which he wanted to get out of the way early in the season.
"Carlton is home to me, all parties knew that, and we were all pretty confident in getting the deal done," he said.
After playing in the forward line for much of his career, and being named the club's leading goalkicker in 2011, Walker was converted into a running half-back by coach Mick Malthouse in 2013 to rich reward.
The 27-year-old former number two draft pick finished second in the Blues' best-and-fairest count behind Kade Simpson.
Walker led the club's kicks, handball receives and rebounds from inside 50 in 2013.
"I had one of my best seasons last year and leading into this season I'm feeling a bit fitter and a bit better, so hopefully I'm like that rare bottle of wine, only getting better with age," he said.
"I've got a lot of confidence in myself now and I feel like I've settled inside. I think I can be a multi-position player, which is where the game is heading, because I think I'm equipped to handle that sort of role.
