Walker to face former AFL side Geelong

Josh Walker will for the first time play an AFL match against Geelong when Brisbane travel to Simonds Stadium on Sunday.

Brisbane recruit Josh Walker is confident he can provide Lions coach Justin Leppitsch and his new teammates with some valuable inside knowledge on Geelong ahead of Sunday's AFL clash at Simonds Stadium.

Walker, 23, played 33 matches in five seasons with the Cats before heading north in search of more opportunities at the top level.

"For five years I did match practice and training on guys like Harry Taylor and Tom Lonergan," Walker said on Tuesday.

"They'll know my game but I'll know their's as well and I'll be able to give the coach a few insights on the rest of the team.

"Hopefully it's advantage us.

" ... there's definitely some tips I could give boys who maybe have an individual match-up."

Walker expects to come up against a Geelong side with a point to prove after the Cats suffered a first-ever loss against Greater Western Sydney in round two.

"That would have been a shock to them," he said.

"They will be on the rebound and pretty fired up to play their first game at home.

"Hopefully we can catch them while they're down and continue to play some promising footy."

Walker said his key-forward partnership with boom youngster Josh Schache was progressing well.

"It could take a bit of time and will get better the more we've played," said Walker, who regularly had to play second fiddle to spearhead Tom Hawkins in his time at Geelong.

"He's great to play with and keen to learn - he listens to his teammates, so I can't speak highly enough of him.

"For me, it's more time playing with a new team, not just Schache, but all the midfielders and all the forwards.

"The more I play, the more comfortable I feel."
