Wallabies lock Arnold to join French club

Wallabies lock Rory Arnold has agreed to join French club Toulouse after the 2019 Super Rugby season.

Towering lock Rory Arnold is the latest Wallabies player to accept a lucrative move to French club rugby.

A veteran of 19 Test appearances since 2016, Arnold, 28, will sign with Toulouse at the end of his 2019 Super Rugby season with the Brumbies.

The move does not rule him out of the Rugby World Cup later next year as he will have played Super Rugby in the same calendar year, but he will be ineligible thereafter under the current 60-Test rule for overseas-based players.

"Rory has the made the decision that he feels is best for the longevity of his rugby career," said Brumbies CEO Phil Thomson.

"We would like to extend our best wishes to Rory and thank him for his commitment to the Brumbies for the past four seasons. We are looking forward to him performing strongly for us during the 2019 Super Rugby season."

The 208cm tall Arnold said: " It was a very hard decision to make.

"I believe the timing is right to move on after this season and experience something new.

"Now that I've made my decision, I'm looking forward to the 2019 season and the future."
