Wallabies must heed harsh lessons: Moore

Wallabies skipper Stephen Moore says his side must take some harsh lessons out of Saturday's Bledisloe Cup belting at Eden Park.

Australia went into the deciding Test with genuine hopes of capturing the coveted trans-Tasman trophy for the first time since 2003 - but those hopes evaporated as the irresistible All Blacks turned the screws to post an emphatic 41-13 win.

New Zealand were clearly intent on righting the wrongs of last week's loss in Sydney and produced a textbook All Blacks performance, powerful and refined in equal measure.

Moore admitted the Wallabies simply weren't able to match them in the physical stakes for long enough.

"Any team when they play with that intensity and pace on the game, they're certainly hard to stop," Moore said.

"I thought physically we aimed up for most of the game.

"There were periods there when we just dropped away and they punished us and that was the difference."

Moore said the Wallabies also have to learn how to play with a man down.

Quade Cooper's yellow card early in the second half opened the door for a stretch of All Blacks dominance, as they piled on three tries in the space of six minutes to ice the contest.

"The tempo went up, particularly when we were down a man," Moore said.

"We need to learn from those periods and be able to operate a man down like that, if it happens again.

"It's the small details in these big games that make the difference."
