Wallaroos finish sixth at Rugby World Cup

The Australian women's rugby team have lost 43-12 to Canada, meaning they finished sixth at the World Cup.

Australia have finished sixth at the Women's Rugby World Cup after losing 43-12 to Canada at Queen's University in Belfast.

The Canadians scored a seven-tries-to-two win over the Wallaroos, with Sarah Riordan and Liz Patu crossing the line for Australia.

Riordan got Australia off to a great start, scoring next to the posts in the fourth minute.

The Canadians fought back before Patu crashed over to put Australia up 12-7 after 20 minutes.

Australia was reduced to 14 players shortly after when Rebecca Clough was given a yellow card and Canada cashed in with a couple of quick tries.

Patu received the Wallaroos' second yellow card in the 37th minute, further reducing the side to 13 and they went to halftime trailing 24-12.

A third yellow card for Australia to Cheyenne Campbell in the 64th minute again reduced the Wallaroos to 14-players and Canada once more made the Wallaroos pay for their poor discipline, running away with the match.
