Walsh would be bemused at fuss: friend

A great mate of Phil Walsh says the AFL coach would be bemused at all the fuss about his death.

Phil Walsh would have looked at the mourners and wondered what the fuss was all about, says a great mate.

The AFL coach, who was allegedly murdered by his son on July 3, was farewelled at a memorial service at Adelaide Oval on Wednesday.

His friend and AFL identity Rob Snowden reckons Walsh would have been bemused by the gathering of about 1000 people which included family, friends and AFL dignitaries.

"Phil would be watching over this and he'd be going: `What? What is all the fuss about?'," Snowden told the service.

Walsh, who was in his first year as head coach of the Adelaide Crows, coined the phrase "man-talk" to describe honest conversations within his club.

"He'd have that man-talk just about now I reckon," Snowden said, noting the Crows play his former club Port Adelaide this Sunday.

"He'd say `come on, move on thanks very much ... go bash the hell out of each other this weekend and finish the year off, make it what we want it to be and keep going'.

"He'd never want people dwelling over this."

Snowden, who worked with Walsh at Port Adelaide a decade ago, said the 55-year-old Walsh lived a "fulfilled life".

"He's had an extraordinary life, no doubt. We know it's too short," Snowden said.
