Wanderers planning all-out attack

With a 2-0 win over Sanfrecce Hiroshima to put Western Sydney through to the Asian Champion's League quarter-finals, they're planing to attack.

Western Sydney are planning an all-out attack when they face Japanese champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima in next week's do-or-die Asian Champions League clash.

Having lost 3-1 in the first leg of the knockout tie in Japan on Wednesday, the Wanderers face an uphill battle to progress to the quarter-finals.

A 2-0 win at Parramatta Stadium on Wednesday would be enough to seal their passage.

Striker Tomi Juric, who scored the crucial away goal in Hiroshima, knows the Wanderers can't afford to sit back.

"We have to play attacking football next week," he said on Friday.

"So we're going to go out there and that's exactly what we're going to do.

"We want to progress to the next round."

The Wanderers managed a 2-0 win the last time they played at home in their A-League semi-final victory over the Central Coast.

Coach Tony Popovic says his charges will draw a lot of confidence from being able to deliver in such a big match but stressed the importance of a strong start.

"If we can score first it will increase the belief of the players and also the crowd," he said.

"We've won 2-0 at home before in big, crucial games.

"This is a big game but as club as a team these are the matches you want to play in - these big pressure matches where there's a lot on the line.

"We're in the round of 16 it's not meant to be easy.

"We certainly respect them, they're an outstanding team but we're a very good side as well and we're very good at home."

Only two players, defender Matthew Spiranovic and goalkeeper Ante Covic, backed up from last week's A-League grand final loss and played on Wednesday.

With no game on the weekend and a rested squad Popovic is likely to make several changes next week.

He rated centre-back Nikolai Topor-Stanley a "small chance" of recovering in time for Wednesday after suffering a knee injury in the grand final.

Michael Beauchamp will take his place.
