Nathan Grey will stay on as assistant coach of the NSW Waratahs for the next Super Rugby season, working under new head mentor Daryl Gibson.
Grey began his coaching role at the Waratahs before their title-winning 2014 campaign, and had been hoping to stay with the club after his contract finished at the end of the 2015 season.
The former 35-Test Wallaby will work alongside new coaching recruits Cameron Blades and Chris Malone.
Grey said he was looking forward to shaping the next generation of incoming players after some senior departures including centre Adam Ashley-Cooper, prop Sekope Kepu, No.8 Wycliff Palu and halfback Brendan McKibbin.
"There is a vacuum there, so we will be looking to our younger players to get stuck in straight away and really stake a claim with how they train and play," said Grey, who is also assisting the Wallabies under former Waratahs head coach Michael Cheika until at least the end of the Rugby World Cup starting in the UK this month.
"It's important to recognise the legacy that those players left, but we're communicating a really strong message to the squad that they are here to create their own legacy and build what the players before them have created."
