Almost halfway through this year's IPL tournament, it seems Australian selectors may have erred in judgement during this year's failed World T20 campaign.
National selectors sat former captain Aaron Finch for the first two games, pushed opener David Warner down the order and dropped Mitch Marsh midway through the tournament - as Australia failed to get out of the pool stage.
But the trio have been Australia's best-performed players over the opening few weeks of the IPL.
The turnaround in Warner, now back to the top of the order for the Sunrisers Hyderabad, has been astounding.
Playing on the same wickets he hit just 38 runs at an average of 9.75 for Australia last month, he has been the IPL's second best batsman, with 294 runs at an average of 73.50.
Four of his six innings have been half-centuries, and his strike rate is the second best of anyone who has scored more than 150 runs for the tournament.
The only Australian close to him with the bat is Aaron Finch.
In four innings, the Victorian has three scores of 50-plus, his 191 runs coming at an average of 63.66 for the Gurajat Lions.
After being stripped of the captaincy, Finch also missed Australia's opening two group matches against New Zealand and Bangladesh at the World T20.
Meanwhile, Marsh's record with the ball for the Rising Pune Supergiants has far outdone that of any other Australian seamer.
Marsh has the best economy rate in the competition, his nine overs going for just 45 runs.
Likewise, average is the best in the competition for those who have bowled more than five overs, taking four wickets at just 11.25 apiece.
Marsh bowled just five overs for Australia in the opening two games of the World T20 at an economy rate of 7.6 before he was dropped for must-win clashes against Pakistan and India.
Fellow Australians Shane Watson (seven wickets at 22.42) and Kane Richardson (five wickets at 18.20) have also been impressive with the ball in the IPL.
