Warner in brutal mood again in IPL

David Warner continued his red-hot form in the IPL on Saturday night, smashing 61 off 28 balls to steer Sunrisers Hyderabad to a big win over Chennai.

David Warner continued his red-hot form in the IPL on Saturday night, combining with fellow Australian Moises Henriques to steer Sunrisers Hyderabad to a comfortable 22-run win.

Sunrisers made 7-192 batting first and in reply, the top-of-the-table MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings could only manage 6-170 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Warner's 61 off 28 balls was the decisive innings of the match, the NSW opener's fifth half-century in eight innings maintaining his place at the top of the season's run-scorers list with 378 at a strike rate of 161.53.

Henriques made a quickfire 19 when promoted to No.3 following an opening partnership of 86 between Warner and Shikhar Dhawan (37).

Henriques then took the key wickets of West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Smith (21) and Indian international Suresh Raina (23) to finish with 2-20 from his four overs.

Sunrisers paceman Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-32) snared the key wicket of Brendon McCullum, bowling the damaging New Zealand opener for 12 after he had crunched three boundaries in his five-ball stay.

When Ashish Reddy ran out Faf du Plessis in the 13th over to break a 46-run stand, and then bowled MS Dhoni (20) next ball to reduce the Super Kings to 5-114 in the 13th over, Chennai's task proved too steep to scale.
