Warrington lose ahead of Challenge Cup

Warrington has suffered a 28-18 defeat to Castleford in the English Super League.

Warrington coach Steve Price has condemned his side for being distracted by next week's Challenge Cup final following their 28-18 defeat to Castleford in the English Super League.

The Tigers ran in five tries, with James Clare opening the scoring on his 100th career appearance.

Junior Moors and Greg Eden also crossed to put the hosts in a comfortable 16-0 lead at half-time.

Quickfire tries from Stefan Ratchford and Bryson Goodwin brought Warrington to within four points of the Tigers, but Eden's second try and a Mike McMeeken four-pointer put Castleford out of sight.

To make matters worse for the Wolves, Mitch Brown, Tyrone Roberts, Ben Pomeroy and Daryl Clark picked up injuries to add to Price's worries ahead of next week's Wembley final with the Catalans Dragons.

After the match, Price showed his dismay at Warrington's lack of focus.

"It clearly showed that our attitude was elsewhere tonight," Price said.

"We have been really good at going from Super League to Challenge Cup mode and Challenge Cup back to Super League throughout the season, but I think a few blokes were looking at the game next weekend."

Price also gave an update on the injuries picked up during the defeat.

"(On Brown) we have no idea. He has been taken to hospital, we should find out more tomorrow.

"Tyrone Roberts will be fine. Ben Pomeroy was playing nearly 60 minutes with a foot injury and other than that we aren't too bad.

"(Clark) was more precautionary. The game was gone at that point."

In the night's other Super League match, Huddersfield continued their recent hot streak with a 26-6 win over Hull.
