Stephen Curry has scored 49 points with 13 of those over the final 1:42mins to lift the Golden State Warriors past the Boston Celtics 109-105 in the NBA.

Curry made a go-ahead three pointer with 1:42 to play, scored on a driving layup the next time down before eight late free throws

Kyrie Irving scored 37 points on 13-for-18 shooting with five threes, but could not prevent Boston losing for the fifth time in six games.

"We bring the best out of each other," Curry said on ESPN of facing off with Irving.

"The battles are always fun. He's an amazing and talented player that can do some crazy things on the floor.

"We had to play good defence tonight. (That's what the) NBA's all about.

"Every night, you never know what's going to happen."

Kevin Durant added 20 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors.

Carmelo Anthony scored his 25,000th career point, Russell Westbrook notched a triple-double, and the Oklahoma City Thunder posted their seventh straight victory by overwhelming the slumping Detroit Pistons 121-108.

Anthony needed 17 points to reach the milestone and got there by making a free throw with 8:30 remaining in the third quarter.

He finished with 21 points and became the 21st player in NBA history to hit that mark and just the third active player, joining Dirk Nowitzki and LeBron James.

"It's a special moment," Anthony said.

"To kind of know what it took to get to this point and the amount of work that was put in to get to this point, the teammates that I've played with over the years, and for me to still be at a point in my career where I still have a lot more to go."

Westbrook racked up 31 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists.

Paul George, who will replace injured New Orleans centre DeMarcus Cousins on Team LeBron in the NBA All-Star Game, supplied 26 points.

Thunder guard Andre Roberson was wheeled off in a stretcher in the third quarter, after he reportedly suffered a ruptured patella tendon.

Elsewhere, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Brooklyn Nets 111-97, the Charlotte Hornets fell 95-91 to the Miami Heat, the Indiana Pacers rallied for a 114-112 victory over the Orlando Magic, the Washington Wizards beat the Atlanta Hawks 129-104 and the Denver Nuggets overcame the Dallas Mavericks 91-89.
