Warriors equal NBA franchise win record

Andrew Bogut's Golden State Warriors have asserted their dominance over Western Conference rivals the Grizzlies with a 107-82 win in Memphis to tie the franchise record for wins at 59.

That record has stood since the 1975-76 season when the team fell in the Western Conference Finals to Phoenix, a mark they will be expected to break when they travel to Milwaukee on Saturday (US time).

Against Memphis, Steph Curry led the Warriors with 38 points and 10 assists in another dominant performance, while his partner in crime Klay Thompson dropped 28 points in the romp.

The win was Golden State's 59th of the season and they're on their way to a franchise record.

It was also a good day for Patty Mills's San Antonio Spurs who continued their march towards the playoffs, by accounting for the Dallas Mavericks 94-76.

Mills only nailed one three-pointer in the win, but the Spurs played a team game to strangle the Mavericks and stay above them to be sixth in the west, just two games behind the LA Clippers.

The Clippers had a win of their own, dominating the lowly Philadelphia 76ers 119-98.

Chris Paul led the scoring for the Clippers with 25 points, but it was DeAndre Jordan who was once again a force in a breakout season.

The Clippers centre dominated the paint as he pulled down 20 rebounds and scored 17 points.

Houston also advanced their playoff claims as James Harden scored 33 points and the recently returned Dwight Howard 18 as they defeated the Minnesota Timberwolves 120-110.

The big guns kept it coming and, despite 39 points and 20 rebounds from DeMarcus Cousins, the Sacramento Kings fell well short against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The Pelicans, chasing a playoff spot and likely buoyed by the news Oklahoma City have lost star forward Kevin Durant for the season, dominated the Kings in a 102-88 win.

As is often the case, MVP candidate Anthony Davis (24) and Tyreke Evans (25) led their scoring.

While the Pelicans were inspired, Portland put a dent in Phoenix's playoff hopes with an 87-81 away win.

Meanwhile, the mix for the playoffs in the Eastern Conference remained much the same.

Brooklyn pushed their claim with a 106-98 win over Cleveland, Atlanta beat Miami 99-86, Boston overcame New York 96-92 and Washington took two overtimes to dent Charlotte's claims with a 110-107 win.

Detroit kept their slim hopes alive with a 111-97 win over Orlando.

The results mean just five games separate seventh-placed Miami and 12th-placed Detroit as the regular season winds down.

In the day's other game, Utah lost 107-91 to Denver with Australia's Joe Ingles scoring just six points.
