Former AFL player and coach Tim Watson believes the AFL may have ulterior motives in moving Saturday's elimination final between the Western Bulldogs and Adelaide Crows to the MCG.
The `Dogs have been forced to move away from their regular home ground of Etihad Stadium for the match, with the AFL claiming they are aiming to fit a larger crowd in.
But Watson believes there is more at play.
"There's a suggestion that the AFL are very keen to take control of Etihad Stadium and one way of driving down the price of paying for it is not to fixture any finals there," Watson told SEN Radio on Monday.
"I don't know if they would have been delighted (with the Melbourne crowd on Sunday) but in terms of the bigger picture here if they can save some money that's what they want to do."
