The prospect of another Super Netball season has proven more than Khao Watts's body could take.

The Melbourne Vixens mid-courter has announced she will retire from professional netball and end a seven-year career.

The 29-year-old has 74 games to her credit and can count playing time at four elite Australian and New Zealand clubs - Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic, West Coast Fever, Adelaide Thunderbirds and Melbourne Vixens - among her accomplishments.

Since her recruitment to the Vixens in 2017 the premiership-winning player has battled a series of injuries that have forced her to call it quits.

"While it's not how I wanted to finish my career, I can comfortably say that I did everything I could to get back on court this year, but unfortunately my body overruled my efforts and I feel the time is right for me to move on," Watts said.

"After injuring my knee during the bye week, I didn't know if I could come back from it but I still wanted to do everything I could to get back on the court.

"Unfortunately, that wasn't to be the case."
