World No.8 Stanislas Wawrinka has withdrawn from the Kooyong Classic in Melbourne, citing fatigue following his title win in Chennai last week.

Wawrinka, who won the Indian Open, will be replaced by 15th-ranked Russian veteran Mikhail Youznhy.

The 31-year-old will play local youngster and Australian Open wildcard winner Jordan Thompson in the third match on Thursday.

Wawrinka faced Frenchman Gilles Simon in his opening match of the eight-man invitational tournament on Wednesday and lost 4-6 7-5 6-3.
