Webb a Ladies Masters no show

Record eight-time winner Karrie Webb will be a rare Ladies Masters no show on the Gold Coast this year due to a schedule clash.

Eight-times champion Karrie Webb will miss the Australian Ladies Masters for just the fourth time in the event's 26-year history.

A change to the US LPGA Tour schedule has worked against the Ladies Masters but tournament chairman Bob Tuohy is confident fans haven't seen the last of Webb playing in her home state event.

European No.1 Charley Hull, 18, on Thursday became the latest big name to be confirmed for the Ladies Masters at Royal Pines Resort from February 12-15.

The 2014 Order of Merit winner on the Ladies European Tour joins a field boasting players from a record 28 nations, including defending champion Cheyenne Woods, Australia's Katherine Kirk, three-time winner Laura Davies and South Africa's Lee-Anne Pace.

However, seven-times major champion Webb, 40, will be a rare no-show.

Tuohy said the addition of a new season-opening LPGA Tour event at Ocala, Florida (January 28-31) followed by the tournament in the Bahamas (February 5-8) had derailed Webb's Gold Coast plans.

Webb has committed to both LPGA Tour events but it would be too much of a stretch to dash back and fit in the Ladies Masters before she defends a title when she attempts to win the Women's Australian Open for a sixth time in Melbourne from February 19-22.

"Unfortunately she can't play due to a lousy schedule but I believe it (LPGA event schedule) will change again in 2016 so we may get her back next year.

"I don't think we have seen the last of her yet."

Webb won her first Ladies Masters title in 1998 and a record eighth by 2013 when she equalled Sam Snead's mark of winning the same event eight times.

Webb's 2014 Ladies Masters campaign ended in tears - literally - when she was disqualified for signing an incorrect scorecard after the second round.
