Australian legend Karrie Webb is chasing a rare place in golf history at this week's Evian Championship in France.
Victory in the year's fifth and final major championship would give her a career set of six different major titles - the five existing ones plus the defunct Du Maurier Classic.
The 41-year-old Queenslander won the Evian Masters in 2006 - well before it became a major in 2013 - and has several other good finishes to her credit including a second place in 2014.
Webb missed the cut in her last event in Canada but prior to that tied for fifth at both the Canadian Women's Open and the Women's British Open.
The seven-times major champion is also poised to take her career earnings on the LPGA Tour to more than $US20 million, needing just over $US7000.
There's no doubt about who is favourite this week however.
World No.1 Lydia Ko is the defending champion for the first time in a major championship, having shot a final round 63 to win by six shots over Lexi Thompson last year.
Ko leads the LPGA season money list from Thai sensation Ariya Jutanagarn who broke through for her first major championship at the Women's British Open in July.
The 20-year-old Jutanugarn has two wins, a runner-up and 5th place finish in her last four starts.
Of the other Australians, Minjee Lee is the most likely contender.
She comes in off a runner-up finish at her last start in Canada amid a strong season.
