Tournament drawcard Karrie Webb held her nerve to sink a clutch final-hole birdie on Friday, ensuring she would make the halfway cut in the Victorian Open at 13th Beach.
As it turned out, a par on the last would have been enough to ensure the seven-time major winner would be part of the weekend action, although she did not know that at the time.
Webb signed for a one-over-par 74 to be in a tie for 42nd at five-over 151.
The tournament was being dominated by the strong international contingent, with England's Georgia Hall leading the way for a second straight day.
Hall carded a second-round of three-under 70 to be at seven-under 139, one shot clear of Denmark's Nanna Madsen, who stormed into contention on Friday with a 68.
Frenchwoman Justin Dreher (73-69) was in outright third on 142, one stroke ahead of defending champion Marianne Skarpnord from Norway, whose second round of 70 was three shots better than her effort on Thursday.
Stephanie Na was the leading Australian in a tie for fifth on one-under 145 after shooting a level-par 73 in the second round.
Webb said she had no idea what the cut would be when she stood over the putt on the 18th.
"I just decided I needed to play," she said.
"Early on, it was better than Thursday - I just didn't make any putts.
"I hit my lines a little more often today, but didn't have the speed and left them short.
"It's just tough, I've only had four birdies in two days and, when it's windy, you're going to make mistakes.
"... I just need to enjoy playing this course again for the weekend, making strides in my game and feeling comfortable hitting the shots I need to hit.
"If I put a low one together tomorrow, who knows what could happen?"
