Wedged Vic truck removed before peak hour

A truck wedged beneath a Melbourne rail bridge that was balancing precariously on two wheels has been removed, preventing peak hour chaos.

A truck spectacularly wedged beneath a Melbourne rail bridge, left sitting on only its front wheels, has been removed just before the peak hour rush.

Traffic is again moving along City Road in South Melbourne after the road was closed in both directions earlier on Monday.

Emergency services and heavy haulage are still on site and traffic remains heavy in the area.

Photos show the drivers' side of the flatbed truck suspended in the air with a clear warning sign on the bridge: "low clearance 3.8m".
