The NRL is celebrating its Indigenous Round, with every NRL club wearing Indigenous-inspired jerseys during round 10 for the first time in history.

Cronulla Sharks prop Andrew Fifita says he's hoping the sports' stance may have an effect on the campaign to recognise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the Australian Constitution.

"For myself, to put on this jersey means the world. You see it in All Stars at the start of the year. The game is recognising us, our people - we're just trying to get Australia to recognise it as well."

A series of cultural performances, gift exchanges, a performance on-screen by Judith Durham and Welcome to Country ceremonies will occur at matches, with a theme of Recognition as the focal point throughout the round.

AFL however is looking at foreign fields this weekend, staging its first match for points in China when the Gold Coast Suns meet Port Adelaide in Shanghai on Sunday.

After the teams return from China both clubs will have a bye in the next round to help compensate them for the international travel.

In local action this weekend, Richmond coach Damien Hardwick has challenged his players to keep improving following a narrow defeat to the Western Bulldogs last round.

His side takes on Fremantle at the MCG on Sunday on the back of successive defeats.

Hardwick says his team isn't that far away from the form that saw them post five wins to start the season.

"We're not playing our best footy at the moment and we think we'll improve. So that's not to say in 5 or 6 weeks' time or 8 weeks' time if we play them again that those results won't be reversed. So we're pretty happy with the style of game we're playing at the moment. But the positive for us and our playing group is the belief we can get better again so that is the challenge."

Tonight's match sees the West Coast Eagles take on the Western Bulldogs at Subiaco Oval.

In Super Rugby this weekend the hapless Australians will try to arrest an alarming slump.

No Australian side has beaten a team from New Zealand in 17 matches so far this season.

The New South Wales Waratahs were beaten at home by the Auckland Blues last weekend, ironically in front of the highest crowd of the season, of over 18,000.

Waratahs Prop Tom Robertson told Fox Sports they'll look to re-build confidence after the tough start to the season.

"Yeah definitely it's pretty tough to stay up-beat. But I guess it's all on ourselves you know we can't blame it on anyone else it's all on the players. And I think that's a good thing because we have it in our power to fix it and we've got the cattle at the Waratahs to fix it and I think we will."

New South Wales has a weekend off to recharge its batteries.

The Melbourne Rebels and the Queensland Reds face each other on Saturday night in an all-Australian clash.

To golf and the world's best will battle it out for the Players Championship on the Sawgrass course in Florida over the weekend in what's commonly referred to as the "Fifth Major".

Some experts are predicting it will one day join the likes of the US Masters, the US Open, PGA and British Open Championship.

Australia's Jason Day won the tournament last year as the world number one but this time around, America's Dustin Johnson carries that mantle.

One man that many are expecting to do well this week is former World number one Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland.

The 28 year-old recently got married and says he's settled into a good rhythm since tying the knot.

"Everything's been great. I feel like my game's in good shape. I needed to address a few issues in between Augusta and here, and I did that with the first 10 days after Augusta and then turned my attentions elsewhere, but feel really good coming into this event."

The Super Netball season continues this weekend with the top two teams locked in a battle for the title.

The ladder-leading Melbourne Vixens travel to Canberra on Sunday to take on the second-placed Sydney Giants in the match of the round.
