Never has weight gain been so unfashionable.

New research out of the United Kingdom has shown that an increase in skirt size can leave women with a higher risk of breast cancer.

University College London researchers found that women whose skirt sizes increased every ten years were 33 per cent more likely to develop breast cancer after menopause.

Kathy Chapman is the chair of nutrition and physical activity for the Cancer Council of Australia.
