Weightlifter stripped of '12 Games bronze

Ukrainian weightlifter Yulia Kalina has been stripped of her London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medal after a positive doping test.

Ukrainian weightlifter Yulia Kalina must return the bronze medal she won at the 2012 Games in London after a re-analysis of her samples from the time tested positive for a steroid.

Kalina, 27, who was placed third in the 58-kilogram weightlifting event, was to found to have been using the anabolic steroid Dehydrochlormethyltestosterone at the time, the International Olympic Committee said in a statement on Wednesday.

Dozens of athletes from the former Soviet Union have tested positive for using performance-enhancing drugs in recent months, leading to a ban preventing most Russian athletes from competing in the upcoming Summer Games in Rio.
