Collingwood veteran Daniel Wells will play his first game of the AFL season when the Magpies take on Geelong at the MCG.

The 33-year-old, having not played since round 20 last season, has battled calf issues early in this campaign.

Scott Pendlebury remains in the line-up after the finalisation of teams for Sunday's games, but the Pies' skipper is no certainty to play as he nurses an ankle injury.

Callum Brown earns a recall, while Ben Crocker and Jarryd Blair have been dropped.

The Cats also have some big inclusions with Gary Ablett and Harry Taylor returning to bolster Chris Scott's line-up, along with Zac Smith and James Parsons.

Ablett has missed four matches with a hamstring strain, while Taylor hasn't played since round one after suffering a foot injury.

Tom Hawkins (suspension), Rhys Stanley (omitted), Lachie Fogarty (managed) and Zach Guthrie (omitted) are out of the team who had thrashed GWS.

North Melbourne host Richmond in Sunday's other match at Etihad Stadium.

As expected, the Tigers regain captain Trent Cotchin from a knee injury, with Dion Prestia out due to a calf complaint.

The Roos have made two changes, welcoming back tall duo Majak Daw and Jarrad Waite. Ed Vickers-Willis (knee) and Cameron Zurhaar (omitted) drop out of the team after their thrilling win over Sydney.
