A group of doctors says medical professionals are being left to manage the health impacts of inhumane policies on asylum seekers.
The doctors are calling for asylum seekers to be housed in the community and given access to Medicare.
Spokeswoman for the group, Dr Barri Phatarfod, says asylum seekers held in detention centres face unique health challenges.
She says government policies are creating a huge problem.
