Wes Anderson's The Grand Budapest Hotel will open the 11th annual Gold Coast Film Festival in April.

The film, which screened at the Berlin Film Festival earlier in February, stars Bill Murray, Jude Law, Ralph Fiennes and Owen Wilson.

"Securing The Grand Budapest Hotel for opening night was an exciting moment for us and is proof that we are committed to delivering our audiences with some of the finest films from here and abroad," festival director Kylie Pascoe said in a statement.

"From internationally acclaimed features, incredible Japanese anime, locally made indie gems and quirky genre films, our vision is to deliver a program of culturally diverse and engaging films and events, and The Grand Budapest sets a very high standard."

The Grand Budapest Hotel recounts the adventures of Gustave (Fiennes), a legendary concierge at a famous European hotel and Zero Moustafa (Tony Revolori), the lobby boy who becomes his most trusted friend.

The Gold Coast Film Festival opens on April 3 and runs until the 13th.

The full festival program and guest line-up will be announced on March 3.
