West Coast re-sign Sinclair, Sheppard

West Coast duo Callum Sinclair and Brad Sheppard have re-signed for a further two years, saying they believe the club is on the up.

With Dean Cox's retirement now confirmed, West Coast have re-signed one of their out-of-contract ruckmen - but it's not Scott Lycett.

Fourth-choice ruckman Callum Sinclair has penned a new two-year deal, tying him to the club until at least the end of 2016.

Defender Brad Sheppard also re-signed for a further two years on Thursday.

But the Eagles are yet to sort out a deal for 203cm South Australian Scott Lycett, who is being heavily chased by Port Adelaide.

Lycett has been in career-best form this season, and the Eagles are desperate to retain him in order to fill the void left by Cox, who will hang up his boots at the end of the season.

West Coast remain confident Lycett, 21, will stay at the club.

Star Eagles ruckman Nic Naitanui is set to lead the ruck division for the next five years after re-committing to the club until the end of 2019 in May.

Sinclair has played nine games in two seasons since being rookie listed in 2013.

The 24-year-old can play either up forward or in the ruck, and said he was keen to continue his career in Perth.

"I have enjoyed the last couple of seasons at West Coast and see an exciting future at the club," said Sinclair, who will be permanently upgraded to the primary list next year.

Sheppard, who has played 58 games since making his debut in 2010, has settled into a defensive role this season and said he appreciated the stability.

Naitanui said it was important to relish Cox's final few games for the club, starting with Friday night's clash with Richmond at Patersons Stadium.

"I guess we'll take everything in, and suck the life out of him while he can still play," Naitanui said.

"He's been a great role model and mentor for myself personally and it's sad to see the big fella go."
