Westbrook upstages 76ers' Simmons in NBA

Ben Simmons scored 22 points but it wasn't enough to prevent Philadelphia falling victim to a brilliant NBA performance by Russell Westbrook for Oklahoma City.

Ben Simmons had 22 points and seven assists in Philadelphia's loss to a Russell Westbrook-led Oklahoma City in an otherwise quiet day for Australia's NBA players.

Simmons shot at 71.4 per cent but had two-from-six at the free-throw line as the Thunder claimed a 122-112 home victory.

Westbrook starred with 37 points, 14 assists and nine rebounds and forward teammate Paul George had 31 points, while fellow All-Star Joel Embiid top-scored for the 76ers with 27.

Giannis Antetokounmpo scored 27 points as Milwaukee beat Chicago 110-96 to continue their revival under the "much more relaxed" Joe Prunty.

The All-Star forward added nine rebounds and eight assists to help the Bucks improve to 3-0 since the interim coach replaced the fired Jason Kidd.

"Right now, you can tell guys are a little bit looser," Bucks forward Khris Middleton said.

"With Joe, he preaches confidence."

Khris Middleton added 20 points and seven rebounds. Jason Terry came off the bench to score a season-high 12 points, nailing four of Milwaukee's 13 3-pointers.

Australian centre Thon Maker played 19 minutes for three points and five rebounds while Boomers guard Matthew Dellavedova contributed seven points, two rebounds and four assists.

The Bucks used a big second quarter to build a 19-point half-time lead, sending Chicago to their fourth straight loss.

Australian Patty Mills had 11 points including two final-quarter three-pointers in 20 minutes off the bench as his San Antonio beat Sacramento 113-98 at home.

LeBron James had 25 points, 14 assists and narrowly missed his second straight triple-double but it was more than enough to help the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the sliding Detroit Pistons 121-104.

"For the most part throughout 48 minutes, this is one of the best games we've had obviously as of late," James said.

The Houston Rockets rode a balanced scoring attack to a 113-102 victory over the Phoenix Suns.

All-Star guard James Harden finished with 27 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists while Chris Paul added 17 points and five assists for the Rockets.

Suns guard Devin Booker finished with 31 points and 10 assists.

Fred VanVleet led seven players in double figures with a career-best 25 points as the Toronto Raptors built an early lead and never looked back in a 123-111 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.

Blake Griffin had 27 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Los Angeles Clippers to a 112-103 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans.
