Star Western Bulldogs recruit Tom Boyd has dislocated his finger in a training mishap.

The 19-year-old forward, who joined the Bulldogs from GWS in a multi-million dollar deal, injured the joint towards the end of a pre-season session on Thursday.

He tackled a teammate during match practice and appeared to get his right hand caught in the jumper.

Boyd immediately left the oval, with the team doctor able to pop the joint back in place.

He only returned to full training this week after having his appendix removed just three days after arriving at the club.
