Wests back Benji to take down NRL premiers

Wests Tigers players are backing veteran Benji Marshall to return against Sydney Roosters at the SCG on Saturday, having not missed a beat while out injured.

Wests Tigers fullback Moses Mbye has backed his returning teammate Benji Marshall to match it against the most "in-form five-eighth " in the NRL.

Marshall has been out for four games with a hamstring injury and replaces Josh Reynolds (knee) in the halves for the Tigers clash with premiers Sydney Roosters on Saturday.

The Roosters are on top of the ladder after seven rounds but Mybe believes 34-year-old and playmaker Marshall will match it with the competition's best halves pairing, Luke Keary and Cooper Cronk, at the SCG.

"It's important to get someone with the experience and calibre of player as Benji back because we're coming up against the top of the table and defending premiers so we need our cavalry," Mbye said on Fox Sports.

"(Keary) has certainly been the in-form five-eighth of the competition and he has been since probably the back end of last year.

"He's playing some quality footy and we'll have to do a really good job on him to nullify his affect in that side.

"We've been trying to pinpoint a few areas where he has a really big influence ... we're certainly working hard to limiting his exposures.

"It's going to be a really good test for us and the inclusion of Benji is going to help us enormously."

Wests moved to seventh on the ladder after ousting Gold Coast last week but face four top-eight sides in the next five weeks.

"It's important for us to build some momentum now," Mbye said.

"We know we've got some good quality competition coming up but that's the reason you play the game, to play finals and and if you want to be there you need to beat these good sides."
