A Townsville man has devised a cracker of a proposal with a little cheeky help from his friends.
Norm Pattison has been dating his girlfriend Briana Davis for nearly seven years and finally decided it was about time to pop the question, the Townsville Bulletin reported.
Being an unconventional kind of guy, he enlisted the help – and backsides – of seven friends from his Goldfield Ashes cricket team.
Over the Australia Day long weekend, the group lined up in a row, before dropped their pants to reveal the words ‘Marry Me’ on their cheeks.
“I took a knee with our four-year-old son and I got him to say ‘I think you should marry dad’,” Pattison told the Townsville Bulletin. “I got the boys to spell it out and the son to coax her into it.”
While it wasn’t particularly romantic, Davis loved the idea and said yes.
“It was a huge surprise,” she said. “He definitely is one to go the extra mile, not in a romantic sense that’s for sure, but he definitely thinks outside the box.”
“It was very Aussie,” Davis said. “I’ve got to thank the great bunch of blokes involved, and the women who had to write on their a***s – they were fantastic.”
No date has been set for the wedding, but plans are well underway.
“I’ve already got everyone on speed dial,” she said.
“Caterers and venues are ready to go, Norm just doesn’t know it yet. I’m going to have to write ‘I do’ on my butt or something on the day.”
