This week, controversial sports scientist Stephen Dank has reiterated his position that there was nothing wrong with the supplements program he oversaw at the Essendon AFL club.
The controversy has seen the suspension of Bombers coach James Hird, the issue of show-cause notices to dozens of players and the launch of court action against both the AFL and various affiliates.
The Australian Institute of Sport says it's occurrences such as this that helped inspire the launch of its framework to help Australian sporting organisations and agencies to develop ethical supplement programs.
The Sports Supplement Framework is designed to provide expertise and resources to allow sporting groups to collaborate with the AIS on supplements.
Abby Dinham spoke with AIS Head of Nutrition Louise Burke.
